Knicks' Smith to Indiana?
The New York Knicks had recent conversations with the Indiana Pacers about a trade that would send G J.R. Smith to the Pacers in exchange for Chris Copeland. The Knicks are looking to clear cap space for the upcoming off season and Copeland has an expiring deal. Smith on the other hand has a player option that he can exercise limiting the franchise's cap space. Despite the recent conversations, the Knicks aren't looking to make a deal until December 15th when more pieces can be added if necessary.

Knicks' Anthony talks Smith
We're almost at the NBA's mid point and the New York Knicks are still dominating the NBA's new cycle. With the recent antics/fine of G J.R. Smith, many wondered if the NBA veteran would ever mature. Recently Knicks F Carmelo Anthony indicated that Smith has gotten the message.
“We have numerous talks,’’ Anthony said. “Me and J.R. talk sometimes all day and night. Certain situations, you have to open your eyes and look yourself in the mirror and say, ‘It’s time to change myself. Everyone else is giving me chances and everybody else wants me to change. If I’m not changing myself, it’s irrelevant.....I think this is a situation that opened his eyes up. He looked at himself in the mirror, hopefully, and said he wants to change, he’s got to change. It’s up to him now.”

Knee Injury hindering Smith?
The New York Knicks have lost 9 of 10 games since G J.R. Smith returned from his 5 game suspension. Despite not being the only reason for the losses, Smith recently admitted that he's still being bothered by his left knee that was surgically repaired (torn meniscus) during the NBA's off-season.
“It’s taking time,’’ Smith said. “I’m not one to make excuses. I got to play better. If it was hurting so bad, I shouldn’t be playing.’’

J.R. Smith talks Nets, Motivation
New York Knicks G J.R. Smith made his first public comments recently since the Knicks were eliminated out of the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers.
“It’s an unbelievable move for J-Kidd [Nets coach Jason Kidd] to have a team like that to start off his first year,’’ Smith said. “They have a great chance to compete for a title. But we’re still the marquee team in New York. A lot of people are counting us out just like last year . We have a lot to prove. We’ll come out with a lot of edge and hopefully put it to positive use on the court.’’
“My motivation is because how bad I played last year [in the playoffs],’’ Smith said. “I’ve seen moves the other teams made. It didn’t affect us unless I don’t play well. If I don’t play well, unfortunately we don’t win. If I play well, we won’t have to worry about anyone else.’’

Knicks Smith warns team of an early exit
Knicks guard J.R. Smith has done his best to lead the team with stars Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire out with injury. The Knicks are currently 0-4 on their West Coast Trip and have played .500 basketball since mid December. After the Knicks fell to the Clippers yesterday, Smith shared his thoughts with the media.
“I’m fine [physically],’’ Smith said. “It’s just starting to take a toll on me mentally. Losing like this, knowing the type of team we were at the beginning of the year, we have to keep fighting through it.”
“I believe we can [get back to that],’’ Smith said. “We don’t have a choice. Either keep playing like this and have an early exit in the playoffs or start fighting. We need some help. We have to help each other on the offensive and defensive end. We can’t rely on our offense.”

Smith questions Knicks' Heart
The Knicks have been in a free fall as of late and no one can quite explain why. Injuries to Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire have played the biggest role but guard J.R. Smith thinks that the problem is far worse than injuries and he stated the following recently.
"We got to check out our heart right now," he said. "We either got to compete or pack up and go home. It's just that simple."
"I don't mind losing," Smith said. "But if we just go out there and get demolished, that's a problem, especially when you're supposed to be considered one of the best teams in your division and your conference. It's just not a good look for us."
