Abdul-Jabbar speaks on Lakers Off-season

The Los Angeles Times caught up with NBA Great and former Laker Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and the Lakers' off-season moves were discussed. Abdul-Jabbar was traded to the Lakers from the Bucks at age 28 and went on to win five of his six total championships with the franchise.
"The Lakers did a great job this off-season improving the team, Dwight being the latest," Abdul-Jabbar said. "Getting Steve Nash was a big deal. He's one of the best players in the league at his position. In addition, they replaced Andrew with Dwight Howard and that was nothing short of a coup. They've done a great job and managed to keep Pau. It will make for a formidable team....Dwight is very committed to playing and winning.....Andrew has been up and down on that issue. There are times he wants to play, do a great job and he goes out and does it. Then there are other times where it seems like he's not focused...When I first started working with him, he was eager to learn....He appreciated me shortening the learning curve. Once he figured he did everything he wanted to do in terms of learning, he didn't want me to bother him constantly going over the fundamentals."

Kareem speaks the truth. Bynum just didn't have that fire to play at his best.
ReplyDeleteNiggas get comfortable and un motivated n la. Thats why mitch only look for veterans who still got sumthin 2 prove. People dont even mention his 2 rings cause his ass was barely on the court when lakers won them. I think a fresh start with younger hungry players will rejuvenate him. I know I have trashed him alot but bynum can b the most dominate big man(offensively) n todays nba if he wants 2 and can stay healthy
ReplyDeleteI agree. When he really puts forth the effort, he does some impressive things.
ReplyDeleteWow now Kareem can teach Dwight the real sky high hook shot(or wateva the name was)lol but Dwight can step up his offensive weaponry with Kareem and we all know the sky is da limit 4 Dwight if he can follow and be like bynum cause u can never stop learning.....lakers should be NBA champs this up coming season but that depends on Steve Nash and his health

ReplyDeleteWow Kareem made Bynum sound like a sack of shit...
ReplyDeleteWow,i wish the best for all parties.preach nba can you please refraim from using the n word that does not look good to other viewers.thanks.
ReplyDeletePreach we really don't need that word on here. If Lakers win championship Dwight stays. If they don't he leaves. I don't think he could handle the pressure if they don't win.
ReplyDeleteOk nigga
ReplyDeleteHaha!! "ok nigga"
ReplyDeleteFunny as hell. ppl don't get offended
Wow! Just when I was starting to enjoy the points you were making preach. The funny thing is the people who asked you to stop weren't rude about it, and yet you come back with that reply. Smh..
ReplyDeleteIt looks like bynum didnt respect much of kareem. I would b thrilled to b mentored by the all time scoring leader, bynum is an ignorant prick! He showed alot of that last year, injured prone player that only had one decent year(short season) that dosent respect the game...

They fail to mention that Kareem had already been teaching him for years. How long was Bynum supposed to keep going.
DeleteAs long as Kareem was willing to teach. There's always more u can learn. N that applies to everything in life. The fact that he said he doesn't need Kareem anymore just shows how immature he is. There's always something u cud learn to better his game. Repetition is the key to success. Shit kobe trained with olajewon couple years ago to better his game. His been working on dirks step back jumpshot. So bottom line u never stop learning
ReplyDeleteBro u cud say nigga but u cant say nigger. Nigga is like homie of freind da other word is racist
ReplyDeleteNot really nigga is an abreviation of the word nigger, idk where did u get that that means homie? Lmao, idk if ur white but go to harlem and use the term nigga and watch ur ass get jumped to death! Unless ur black, anf wtf this is a bball forum not a race forum, lets get back to the subject here
