Jermaine O'Neal considering retirement?

Jermaine O'Neal is out for the remainder of the season with a wrist injury that will require surgery but now his career may be on the line.  O'Neal could have a minor surgery that would allow him to play next season but at some point he will have to undergo a full bone fusion.  O'Neal shared the following with sources yesterday.

“As a player, you always want to leave the game on your own terms....I know what I’m dealing with physically, but I know it’s going to be hard if I don’t play again. I’ve played in the NBA literally half my life. That’s what I know. Basketball is the core of what I’ve been doing. I think sometimes as players we have to be totally honest with ourselves, and that’s based on our professional lives and our personal lives. That’s what it came down to for me. We did everything we could to try to get me back playing this year....I don’t want to be 60 before I’m 40. I don’t want to be broken down.”

Deng to rest wrist?

After missing 8 of 9 shots during a loss to the Orlando Magic, Bulls forward Luol Deng admitted that the pain had returned in his left wrist.

"I hate talking about my wrist, but I'm going to talk with the medical staff and Thibs," Deng said. "The past few games, it has escalated a little bit. We have to kind of bring it down again. I've been trying to avoid it and everything but it's a tough one....I just have to find ways to adjust my game. I've proved I can play with it. Some days it's going to feel great. Some days it's going to feel terrible. We just have to bring it down."
