Raja Bell Update

Today is the deadline for players to accept buyouts and still be eligible to sign with playoff contenders but Raja Bell will not be one of those players.  Despite being interested in the Lakers and the Miami Heat, Bell was not able to reach a deal to play elsewhere and has rejected a buyout offer from the Utah Jazz despite not receiving any playing time.  There's several teams that still hope that the Jazz will cut Bell by the 12 am deadline.

Bell to Lakers?

Raja Bell is still under contract with the Utah Jazz but that hasn't stopped the Los Angeles Lakers from thinking of adding Bell to their roster.  Jazz management have allowed Bell and his agent to seek deals elsewhere before they cut the veteran.  If Bell is indeed cut, the Lakers and also the Chicago Bulls would considering signing him as Bell is currently in his hometown of Miami working out for a possible NBA return.

Agent blasts RealGM

Recently RealGM reported that the Utah Jazz and the agent for veteran guard Raja Bell were working out a trade for the disgruntled guard.  Herb Rudoy, Bell's agent, spoke out against the internet report and claimed it as one being of a false nature.

"Absolutely not.....I was asked if we are discussing a buyout and I said 'no.' The rest is pure speculation," Rudoy said. "There is no trade talk that I know about."

Update on Raja Bell

As reported on various media outlets, the Utah Jazz have informed guard Raja Bell not to attend training camp.  Below is the news release that the Jazz released via GM Dennis Lindsey detailing the situation

"I have spoken with Raja and his representative, Herb Rudoy, and we have mutually agreed that although Raja remains under contract, it is in the best interest of all parties that he not rejoin the team next week when the Jazz begin training camp.  We will now move forward focusing on Jazz basketball and our preparation for the upcoming season. We will have no further comment on this matter."

Bell talks Buyout, Heat

Earlier in the off-season, The Real NBA brought to you the news that the Utah Jazz and veteran guard Raja Bell, 36, were close to agreeing on a buyout that would have allowed Bell to become a free agent but as of yet the buyout hasn't happened and Bell is still a member of the Jazz.  During a radio interview yesterday, Bell gave fans an update to his situation and spoke at length about the Miami Heat.

"They would be on the top of my list, for sure......Again, hometown crowd, my kids are in elementary school here. It'd be great for me to get a chance to play here in Miami where I grew up and I know a lot of people, and be a part of this history that they're going to make for the city. But that's not always just up to me.....Right now, I'm taking a physical on Monday out in Salt Lake.....We had a buyout in place early in the summer. The Jazz never officially presented it to me. But they never really officially told me I was coming back there, either. So I'm really in a limbo situation right now."

"The Heat, they've done a great job over the last few years," he said. "They've really stacked their roster with some quality players, so I don't know that there's a spot there for me. Obviously, it's my hometown team, so given the opportunity, I'd like to be a part of what they're doing......But I understand that they've made strides to improve and really feel like they've got a good nucleus. So if it's not here, then hopefully I'll get a chance to go somewhere else and finish my career."

"At my age and what I've got in my tank, I feel like a limited role is best," he said. "I don't really like playing 35 minutes a night anymore......As much as I control what I do, I don't," Bell said. "The Jazz hold my rights, they are the owners of the contract. And so if they tell me I'm coming back to camp, then I have to go back to camp.....On Monday, when I go out and have my physical, I'm really hoping they'll say to me, 'Look, we either have a trade worked out for you or we're going to waive you,' or something that will allow me to move on."

Raja Bells rips coach, wants to be traded

It's still very early but the feeling is that Raja Bell will not return to the Utah Jazz next season.  Bell will still be under contract with the Jazz for next season but he hopes that the team will trade him.  In March Bell and head coach Tyron Corbin had a confrontation and Bell feels that Corbin was unprofessional due to not playing him late in the season and in the playoffs.

Raja Bell to return?

Monday Raja Bell was cleared to participate in running drills and minor basketball related activities.  Bell had been out of action since March 15 and had a hyalgan injection on his left knee on April 2nd, at that time he was ruled out indefinitely.  The perfect scenario would be for Bell to return in time for the playoffs later this month.

"If I can get into shape and situationally … I can help, I'm all up for it," said Bell, "They're cooking, so you don't want to get in there and screw everything up,"
