Antawn Jamison talks Kobe/Dwight

Los Angles Clippers F Antawn Jamison joined the Los Angeles Lakers last season to finally have a shot at winning the elusive NBA championship but as chronicled thousands of times, the two stars of the Lakers at the time Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard had issues.  Jamison recently shared why he thinks the two had issues.

“It was difficult,” Jamison said. “I really believed before we got started that those two could co-exist. But it just didn’t work out that way. Both guys are unbelievable basketball players, the best we have in the game right now. But for whatever reason we just couldn’t get that relationship as far as them communicating and them trusting each other the way you needed them to trust each other in order for us to win a championship. It just didn’t happen that way.”

Antawn Jamison Feels He ‘Deserves’ to Win a Championship

From Grantland:
“If I win a championship, I’ll be put in a different category,” he said. “I know where I am with the totals, the averages, the scoring list or whatever. But I didn’t win in high school. I didn’t win in college. To have such a roller coaster career in the pros and to be a professional night-in and night-out and to know I put in the work and did all those things I needed to do to be successful, man … “
And here, the composed, intelligent veneer with which Jamison conducts his media responsibilities broke down for a second. He smiled broadly, looked up at the rafters, and said, “Man, I deserve it. I want one bad. I envision it all. I envision holding that trophy up, I envision going to that parade, I envision getting that ring. It’s the only thing that keeps me motivated, having my name associated with a champion. I just deserve it.”

5 Minutes: Antawn Jamison

Jamison talks role with Lakers

New Lakers' forward Antawn Jamison knows how to be versatile considering that during his 14 years in the NBA he has spent time as a productive player whether it if was starting or coming off of the bench. He seems content to do whatever the Lakers as of him as his only remaining goal is to capture that elusive NBA Championship.  With Dwight Howard injured, it seems as if Jordan Hill will start at the 4 spot with Pau Gasol playing the 5, this could mean more playing time for Jamison but as he recently told the media, he is ready.

"That's something I knew coming in that there would be times I'm playing significant amount of minutes or times I'd have a certain role coming off the bench....Fortunately for me, I've been in just about every scenario you can imagine. Whether it's starting for a couple games, keeping my role in coming off the bench ... I will come in and help out this team as much as possible. Whatever is asked of me to do, I'll do it....I'm an old man now," Jamison said. "The off-season for me is how I get better. It's how I stay in shape. It's how I prevent injuries. This off-season has been more mental, especially with knowing I was coming here. I'm being focused, paying attention to detail and making sure I'm doing the proper steps to ensure my body can withstand 82 games and a long playoff series."

Lakers to make run at Jamison

The Los Angeles Lakers have their eyes on veteran forward Antawn Jamison.  The Lakers have a mini mid level exemption that will top off at $3.1 million next season and they may use that to entice Jamison to join the team, according to sources Jamison may want to end his career in his home state of North Carolina but he'd never win the elusive ring with that decision.

Antawn Jamison to end career in Charlotte?

Antawn Jamison feels that he has two or three more years left to play in the NBA and he'd like to end his career with the Charlotte Bobcats.  This would mean that perhaps Jamison would miss out on the chance to contend for an NBA championship as his career dwindles down but it's the lure of family that's drawing him to Charlotte.  Jamison grew up in the Charlotte area and he has an off season home there.
