On former Jazz man Kyle Korver …
"Kyle, first of all, is a veteran team player. He's a specialist and one of the outstanding shooters in the NBA. He'll be looked at in that role. Like in 2008, Michael Redd kind of filled that role for us. He's a really good player, but an outstanding shooter. … If you look at the stats from London, we were by far the best 3-point shooting team. … That was really a dominating stat along with assists for us. It's always a huge part of what we look at when we put together a team. And it's a closer line than the NBA, so it's incorporated even more than it would be in the NBA."
On new Jazz coach Quin Snyder, a former Duke player and assistant …
"I'm so pleased for him. He'll do a great job. He's an outstanding teacher."
On Derrick Rose …
"I'd like to see him play like the Derrick of old, because he's one of the best players in the world, an MVP in the NBA. What we've heard is he's in great shape. I think he's going to practice with the Bulls as they put their summer league together … just to see how he's going to do 5-on-5. … Hopefully this is a launching pad for him for a great NBA season."
On his involvement in LeBron James' decision …
"I wished him luck. He looked like he was in control of the situation. I just told him to do what you feel you need to do. You don't owe anybody. But he didn't need any advice from me."
On new addition Chandler Parsons (whom Dallas coach Rick Carlisle apparently said could play 1 through 4) …
"I don't want to tell Rose or Lillard or Kyrie Irving that he's going to play the 1. But his versatility is a huge strength. His energy. He's one of the most intelligent players in the league."
On what he's learned as USA Basketball coach …
"Mentally, we know the neighborhood a lot better. I think before that, a lot of times a U.S. team would try to take the neighborhood they lived in and tried to impose that on everyone else and it wasn't working. We've learned to be a part of FIBA and really learned to love and respect the quality of basketball around the world."
