The New York Knicks and Head Coach Derek Fisher have landed their first assistant coach to lead the staff in Kurt Rambis. Rambis has 12 years of assistant head coaching experience, all with the Los Angeles Lakers in three separate stints. He has been an assistant under Phil Jackson, also during the time when Fisher was a player for the Lakers, so there should be a lot of familiarity with both.

In his two seasons as the Head Coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Rambis struggled with a record of 32-132. Rambis did interview for the Lakers head coaching job this season, but that job remains vacant, and with a deal north of a million dollars per year, Rambis smartly accepted the Knicks offer.
