Karl talks Sonics

With reports floating in NBA circles that the Maloofs are close to finalizing a deal that would essentially move the Sacramento Kings to Seattle and give rise to the Sonics, former Sonics head coach George Karl recently shared his thoughts on the franchise that he led to the 1996 NBA Finals.
“I think it’s a great sports city,” Karl said. “I think it has an East Coast feel. I think sports is always going to be (secondary) because Seattle is a little bit of an individual city – outdoors and entrepreneurs. There’s just a lot of mental action there. I don’t know if it’s ever going to be a great sports city because of that. They have a lot of things on Saturdays and Sundays.”

How would that work tho the thunders team history will be the sonics but the sonics history will be the kings
ReplyDeleteGood point, lol... I dont think they thout about that
DeleteIts kind of like in the NFL when the old Cleveland Browns became the Baltimore Ravens. Then a few years later the Cleveland Browns came back as an expansion team.
DeleteIt only workds with football, if the name is available it can be taken, of course the history remains to the thunder, but who wanted outta Seattle anyways ?? As soon as new orleans changes their name to the pelcans next season, jordan already stated he wanted hornets gimmic back in charlotte
ReplyDeleteThis is the history of the kings location for you guys who are confused of the history of the thunder and kings would be. To them it doesn't matter whatever footage of the uniform the player is in that's the history it's not the first time.
ReplyDeleteRochester Royals 1945–57 Cincinnati Royals 1957–72 Kansas City-Omaha Kings 1972–75 Kansas City Kings 1975–85 Sacramento Kings 1985–Present

From the Kings to the Sonics?.....I don't think it will hurt and they would have more money to do things with.
ReplyDelete.......If sonics wanna move out and dump its history to become Thunder. It basically means a whole new franchise. Dun understand why Ppl are still gonna think sonics achievement is directly inherted by kings renaming. thurderl dumped ur city u should be happy kings are picking up and even do u a favor of renaming
