Rockets to retire Yao Ming's jersey?

Yao Ming spent his entire 8 year NBA career with the Houston Rockets and helped the Rockets stay relevant after the Hakeem Olajuwon era ended. With career averages of 19 ppg and 9 rpg, Ming was on his way to having a Hall of Fame career until the foot injuries set in. While speaking to the media recently, Rockets owner Leslie Alexander indicated that the Rockets organization will one day retire Yao Ming's jersey.
“Sometime probably, yes,” Alexander said.

Come on.this is completely irrelevant.just because ofthat reason.he haven't even have a very career.i am a tmac fan and with yao they definitely are better.i even became a rockets fan til now.but this i think is entirely premature.
ReplyDeleteThey must give higher standards on retiring lesser and not just because someone have been a franchise player don't you think

I think you should work on your reading writing and punctuation skills before you decide to prove a prove. Your grammar is painful on the eyes, but I don't blame you fully. The school system and your parents failed you and for that, I apologize.
Delete^^this guy. Anyway i disagree. Yao did alot to help globalize the game. And if not for injuries he wouldve definitely lived up to expectations. The sad part about it he just starting to get that killer mentality when the injuries started.
DeleteCome on now Preach I know the school teacher is a pain in the ass sometime, but he had that coming & it was funny as hell.
DeleteYea aint nothin wrong with a smart ass
DeleteMan i miss yao.
ReplyDeleteIt was a 3 word answer that contained the word "probably". Its not saying much. But if he does its pretty obvious the rockets have only been relevant through the asian community since yao. And it seems this and lin are them trying to maintain that fan base.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of on court production i dont think he deserves it. But what he did for the sport as a whole, i wouldnt mind them doing it.
I really dont think yao did enough to get that privilage, the only reason he had those stats was bcause of his size, i think he was overrated,

Come on now, yao was skilled. Could shoot jumpers, great free throw shooter and nice touch around the basket. Got dunked on alot but had his share of blocks too
DeleteI think he would have had a hall of fame career if he was healthy. He was the ONLY center in the league and he was beasting his last 2yrs when he was healthy enough to play. But....... put all that to the side the real reason he deserves to have his Rockets jersey retired is because he made the Rockets owner almost a half a BILLION dollars richer. If I was that owner I wouldn't care what his stats looked like if he made me that kinda money I would retire his jersey and wouldn't care who didn't agree with it.
