Reaction to Howard's ad

George Diaz a blogger at the Orlando Sentinel responded to the ad that Dwight Howard placed in yesterday's paper. Below is an excerpt from Diaz's post:
He chose to make it a melodrama, enabled in some part by the reluctance of Magic management to trade him and be done with it. Still Howard is gone and he shares the brunt of everyone’s anger.
His parting shot involves him posing with a Los Angeles Lakers uniform. And so it comes across as awfully awkward for him to say that “although my career with the Magic has come to a close, my love for the city and the people that make it beautiful will never end.”
Sorry Dwight. It is now an unrequited love.

DeleteSounds like somebody's bitter. You should have known he was going to be a Laker, even from the very beginning of his career. Cream rises to the top. The people of Orlando should already know that they are the Lakers minor league team. How short their memories are.

ReplyDeleteThe Lakers got their big 3's from trades or drafts picks. The only big name player they got from free agency is shaq daddy. Miami got their big three thru free agency. Which basically meant they chose the team they wanted to play for. Now u want to talk about buying a championship, that's a prime example!!! As much as I hate Boston, even they got their big three thru trades. Now regarding the small market teams, blame the owners for either being too cheap or not smart enough to pull off trades to make the team better. All they want to do is bitch and complain about other teams making trades that are not fair. Then they should of put together a better offer. Until they stop thinking about only making a profit and start thinking about winning, the league will always be like that.
DeleteIts not the Lakers fault that teams like Memphis took kwame brown for Pau, Pho took picks for Nash, and we did trade away bynum to get Howard. The Lakers got their players through trades and not free agency so that's why they are paying the luxury tax. That sounds like a franchise that cares about winning no matter what it takes.

Smart move on the Lakers part. They were so far over the cap that they didn't have the luxury to go out and sign big name free agents. They got these players through trades. Again not the lakers fault that teams wanted to make those trades with the Lakers. These players ended up signing extensions with the Lakers. What is wrong with going over the cap and paying the luxury tax with players that is already on your roster? Now making moves like that shows commitment to winning no matter the cost.
