Jeremy Lin speaks on his "advantage"

Jeremy Lin who rose to fan as an unlikely fan favorite of the New York Knicks spoke to the Taipai Times while visiting family in Taiwan and indicated that being Asian and playing in the NBA has its advantages.
"I think the advantage of being an Asian basketball player in America is that no one expects anything from you, and no one thinks you are going to be good....The reason why I said it was an advantage is because everyone takes you lightly, and the minute you step out on the court, you give it to them and you immediately earn their respect, but no one is going to give it to you right away, not in America at least....What I have done is nothing compared to what Yao has done," Lin said. "I have always looked up to Yao, but I don't see myself as having to fill his shoes. My goal was very simple, and it is to get as close as I can to reach my personal potential. I am not sure what that is, but my goal is to find out."

At least he's not being conceded or cocky, he's an ok player atm but that's it. I liked the "I have always looked up to Yao" he's 7'6, we all look up to Yao. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love how people say hes an ok player, the kid only played 20 semi games and had like 5 bad games and he gets critisized, give him a full season before getting on his case, what he did for the knicks was amazing, if it wasnt for him they probably wouldnt of made the playoffs,,,,,
ReplyDeleteSaying he's ok atm, that's not critisizing him. He wasn't great the time he played, too many turnovers and ugly plays, and then hiding out til he got paid. Now that's critisizing.
DeleteWhen u r basically a rookie and ur handling the ball 95% of the time ur prone to have that many turn overs, but his assist scoring and WINS cancel all his turnovers!

DeleteDuring the time he was playing no else was putting up those numbers from lebron, kevin durant, melo, kobe, chris paul, no one on team use was NO BODY so he is just okay that is crazy
ReplyDeleteU cant say what he is, he's still too young. He's still devolping. At the moment, none of us are in the gym with him. So, none of us can say where he is. I will say last year he was OK. Big for his team ? Yes. Big compared to company? Not so much. Who knows where he will be this year?
ReplyDeleteTell u what! He did more in 28 games then what marbury ever did for the knicks! Lol
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. Starbury was so over rated just like his lil cousin.. he made me cnt stand the Knicks
