Former player says Orlando Magic will be dangerous

Former Orlando Magic player and current Mavericks assistant Darrell Armstrong spoke with Shannon Owens of the Orlando Sentinel and explained that the Magic can still be a dangerous team.
"The thing is in this league, in any league, it’s about playing hard. Everybody needs talent, yes. Everybody has talent. But how hard does that talent play? What type of chemistry does that talent have? And [the Orlando Magic] still have talent here. They still have Jameer [Nelson], Baby [Glenn Davis], [Hedo] Turkoglu, J.J. Redick and they just added pieces, Al Harrington and [Arron] Afflalo. So it’s just about them going out believing in themselves and playing hard. The media is always going to either knock you or they’re going to make you. If you let someone tell you that you can’t win but 10 games and you believe it, that’s what you’re going to do. We went through that when we traded Penny Hardaway and we had Ben Wallace and Bo Outlaw and Chucky Atkins and myself. But me being a leader at the end of the day, I thought it was on me to bring that intensity, that focus that belief....That’s what makes a more dangerous team to me because you can’t zero in on anybody,"

I am a Magic fan, and while I do not believe that we will make the playoffs for at least the next two years, I do not believe that was the point. The point was that there are still some decent pieces left. We won't make the playoffs, but if we play hard, we won't exactly be the Bobcats... we can put forth great effort and get into the lottery with some dignity.
ReplyDeleteIdk, nets had decent players 2 years ago and look what they did,,, nothing,,, but lets hope the magic get back in the race

The magic will ne back in it in a few years. They are a good organization and a destination players will want to play for if they get the right pieces. Now they have a chance to build a new young squad and have enough room to trade for some good vets who want to be leaders. They got cap space and draft picks to play with now. They will make waves coming up.
