Are the Mavs using shortened season as an excuse

Mavericks players and coaches have complained that the amount of injuries that their team has suffered is due to playing a high amount of games in a condensed schedule.  I understand that the Mavericks are an older team but their schedule isn't anymore grueling than any other teams' schedule.
