Wallace ready to return?

Last evening as the Knicks battled the Wizards, Rasheed Wallace missed his 25th consecutive game due to his foot injury.  Wallace's return seems to be near and yesterday he spoke of how it kills him not to be on the court.

“I’m real anxious, to be honest,’’ Wallace said. “ Sometimes sitting on the sidelines, watching the guys, is killing me. I feel like at certain points of the game, I could’ve gotten that rebound. Or I would’ve been able to trap here. A whole lot of what ifs and couldas. It kills me.

“I definitely want to be out here with my soldiers,’’ Wallace added. “I’m on the sidelines preparing for war, up at practice, going through practice with them, then game film. I’m preparing myself, but (it’s like) 'Guys, I can’t go on the airplane and go to war with you.’ There’s nothing I can do. I have to let this foot do what it does. I have to say that to myself a lot - be patient.....We’ll see how it goes...It’s been a minute. My foot’s feeling better. It’s not up to me. It’s up to Doc for the most part. See what Dr. Callahan says and take it from there.’’

Wallace close to returning

New York Knicks forward/center Rasheed Wallace is said to be close to returning to the court.  Wallace had been diagnosed with a stress reaction which is a lesser form of a stress fracture of his left foot.  The injury has caused Wallace to miss the last 8 games and his return date should be January 1st barring any setbacks.

Wallace not ready?

Despite being on the Knicks' roster, Rasheed Wallace's contract will not become guaranteed in full until January 5th.  Wallace is expected to miss the entire preseason as he works on his conditioning and as of yet he hasn't been cleared to practice or scrimmage due to his lack of conditioning.  With that being said, if his conditioning doesn't improve, the Knicks could waive Wallace before January 5th and that would allow them to only have to pay a prorated amount of the $1.3 million that he signed for.

Chandler talks Wallace

While speaking to the media at a charity event, Tyson Chandler endorsed the idea of having retired All-Star Rasheed Wallace sign with the New York Knicks.  The Knicks have offered Wallace a roster spot and are currently awaiting his answer.

“He looked good...Rasheed can be a great addition to us.....I hope he [comes],” Chandler said. “I don’t know what the situation is, but He’s a great communicator on defense and we know he can knock down the open 3 and jump shot...To have myself and Amar’e with Marcus Camby and Rasheed as backups ... That’s pretty nice.”

Wallace update

The New York Knicks have decided to sign retired forward/center Rasheed Wallace to the veteran's minimum which is valued at a little over $1 Million and for a length of a year.  The exact terms of the contract hasn't been discussed and the final decision will be made by Wallace according to his agent Bill Strickland who recently spoke to the NY Post.

“He will make this decision on his own,’’ Strickland told The Post. “Rasheed’s his own man. This time I’ll be more a facilitator than an advisor. As he’s told me, he’s a grown man and he’s got this....People talk about how volatile he is, but players who’ve played with him always talk about what a good teammate he’s been,”

Rasheed Wallace to return?

According to sources, Rasheed Wallace has been working out more lately and looking to return to the NBA.  At 37 years old Wallace could come off the bench and help a contender in short playing stints throughout the game.  Personally I wouldn't mind seeing Wallace return to the court as he was one of the players I respected the most, the picture below was taken during Wallace's last game.....game 7 of the 2009/10 NBA Finals where he had to start in place of Kendrick Perkins who was out with an injured knee and as he fouled out, no one can dispute the fact that he left it all on the court.
