Parker talks taking less money

While speaking to NBA reporter David Aldridge, Spurs guard Tony Parker spoke about the benefits of him taking less money to continue his career in San Antonio.
“For me personally, why I did it was because, deep down in my heart I know Pop will take care of me until the end of my career. So that’s why I felt like I can take less now and help the team out. And we were able to sign Danny [Green] and Boris [Diaw]. And I know when I get a little bit older, I know Pop will take care of me. I really feel that....“A lot of people ask me, ‘How are you so successful in San Antonio?’” Parker said. “Because, I say, we did a lot of sacrifice. When you look at Manu, Manu did a lot of sacrifice to stay here. I did the same thing. Sometimes when you want to win championships, you have to do that.”

Very good man, not a sell out at all, and stays true to his city. We need more athletes like him in all the sports industries.
ReplyDeleteHim Ginobli and Duncan r the last of a dying breed of athletes in the NBA..there r a couple more but I can't think of any off top right now
DeleteWhat about Kobe D Wade Paul Pierce and Dirk Nowitzki. All players have played for for their respected teams their entire careers won championships with those teams and will retire more than likely with those teams.
DeleteKobe wanted 2 be traded if things ain't turn around for the Lakers, n I believe DWade wouldda left as well..Paul Pierce has cried for years til Boston started winning again..I give him n Dirk all respect.... just my personal 2 cents on DWade
